Meet the Founder

Dr. Jonathan L. “Jj” Johnson, Ph.D. (he/him) is the Founder and Principal Consultant of JEDI Leadership Consulting, a firm he established in 2020 to help organizations lead with justice, build cultures of belonging, and navigate meaningful organizational change with clarity and compassion.

With more than 20 years of experience across higher education, nonprofit, and mission-driven organizations, Jj brings a rare blend of strategic insight, investigative rigor, and lived experience to his work. His approach centers people while delivering results, helping leaders translate values into action and create environments where trust, empathy, and accountability drive performance.

Through JEDI Leadership Consulting, Jj partners with executives, leadership teams, and organizations to strengthen their cultural intelligence (CQ) capacity, transform organizational culture, and design equity-centered strategies that endure. His work spans executive coaching, leadership development, organizational change initiatives, talent development, and learning experiences that address topics such as emotional intelligence, gender and racial equity, holistic well-being, dismantling harmful leadership norms, and fostering authentic belonging across teams.

Dr. Johnson is a proud first-generation graduate of Berea College, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in Technology and Industrial Arts Management. He holds a Master of Science in Higher Education from the University of Kentucky, a Ph.D. in Educational Counseling Psychology from the University of Louisville, and a graduate certificate in Pan-African Studies, along with multiple professional certifications.

A lifelong educator and servant leader, Dr. Johnson is also a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., and remains deeply committed to community uplift and social impact beyond organizational walls. His work is grounded in a simple conviction: when leaders lead with humanity and intention, organizations do more than succeed, they create lasting impact for the people they serve.
